Devil in spring – Lisa Kleypas, The Ravenels #3

Devil in spring is the third book in the serie The Ravenels, written by Lisa Kleypas.

This is the story about Pandora, one of the Trenear twin sisters. Pandora is full of life, cannot sit still, talkative and has big plans for her life. One of her passions is boardgames. She creates them from scratch. Her brother in law, Rhys Winterborn, owns Londons biggest department store. Pandora has a contract with him and he will sell her boardgames in his store.
Pandora has no interested in marrying anyone since marrying means that her business wouldn’t belong to her anymore, it would belong to her husband.
Unexpected events makes it so that Pandora and Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, is found in a situation that could be considered as compromising. Gabriel, who has been avoiding situations that might trap him into marriage, finds himself trapped by a girl who has no interested in marrying him even if the consequence is a scandal.
Both Pandoras and Gabriels family decides that it would be good if Pandora and her family came to visit Gabriels family at their estate by the coast. This way, they can get to know each other and decide if they should be married to avoid a scandal.

The parents of Gabriel is Evie and Sebastian from the book Devil in winter.
A favourite couple for many of Lisa Kleypas readers. To meet Evie and Sebastian again, gives this book an extra heart.

Devil in spring is an unexpected story and I like Pandoras lively personality and also that she is passionate about her business. Highly recommend to read this book.

Marrying Winterborne – Lisa Kleypas, The Ravenels #2

Marrying Winterborne – Lisa Kleypas, The Ravenels #2

Marrying Winterborne is the second book in the serie The Ravenels, written by Lisa Kleypas.

The story about Helen, the oldest of the Trenear sisters, and Rhys Winterborne, starts already in the first book of the Ravenels serie. Helen has helped to take care of Rhys after an accident. Her gentle and soft manners is irresistible for Rhys. He is a commoner, who has built a fortune in trades. What he needs is to marry a Lady, an aristocrat and Helen seems like the perfect candidate.
All her life, Helen has lived on the family estate without much contact of the world outside of her family and the estate. Rhys manners scares her at first, even though she is drawn to him. Rhys propose quickly and Helen accepts.
Their first kiss dosen’t go as planned. Helen is unprepared and gets scared. Her sister in law, Kathleen, sees her running away crying. After the event Helen gets a migraine and during her time sick in bed, Kathleen seeks up Rhys to tell him that engagement between him and Helen is over. Kathleen, and her husband Devon, don’t think that Rhys is a good match for Helen.
After learning that her engagement has been ended, without anyone asking her about it, Helen doesn’t feel relieved. Imagining how her life will look lite without Rhys and how it would look like being married to an aristocrat, Helen feels that a terrible mistake has been made. She decides to take charge of her own life and seeks up Rhys.

Marrying Winterborne is entertaining and eventful! There are no dull moments and it’s easy to like both Helen and Rhys. A bit steamy as well. Highly recommend this book.

Cold hearted rake is the first book in the serie The Ravenels, written by Lisa Kleypas.

After being married for just 3 days, Kathleen becomes a widow. The estate, where she and her three sisters-in-law lives, is inherited by Devon Ravenel, now the new Earl and Lord Trenear.
Devon has lived a carefree life with no one to think about except himself and his brother. The last thing he wishes for is to take care of an estate, three unmarried distant relatives and a widow. His plan is simple – find out if and how he can sell the estate and then go back to his normal life.
But things will never get back to how they used to be. Getting to know Kathleen will change his view of things and it will also change what he really wants in life.

Cold hearted rake is a very good historical romance book! This is one of the best books in the serie about the Ravenels. It’s  quite steamy and the passion between Kathleen and Devon is on fire!

The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #4

The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #4

The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy is the forth and last book in the serie about the Smythe-Smith Quartet, written by Julia Quinn.

All the unmarried ladies in the family of Smythe-Smith plays in the family’s music quartet and perform during the family’s annual concert. It dosen’t matter if you are a skilled musician or not, you still need to be a part of the quartet. The only way to be released from the duty is to get married.

The forth book, The Secrets of Sir Richard Kenworthy, is about Iris Smythe-Smith. She is a sharp observer, intelligent but not the kind of woman who attracts a lot of suiters. Because of this she is suspicious when Sir Richard starts to show interested in her directly after he has been attending the annual concert. He starts to court her right away and even if they are enjoying each others company, she cannot shake off the feeling that something is out of place. After just a couple of weeks of being aquatinted, Richard proposes and kiss her, which is seen by her aunt. Iris finds herself in a compromised situation and the only solution is a hasty marriage.

This book has a moral dilemma. I cannot tell you more without spoling so you just have to read the book. It will be worth your time! Maybe the last book in the serie about the Smythe-Smith is the best one.

The sum of all kisses – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #3

The sum of all kisses is the third book in the serie about the Smythe-Smith Quartet, written by Julia Quinn.

It dosen’t matter if you are a skilled musician or not, you still need to be a part of the quartet. The only way to be released from the duty is to get married.

The third book, The sum of all kisses, is about Sarah, a cousin to the family Smythe-Smith. Sarah is very fond of her family and as much as she loves her family, she hates Hugh Prentice. Hugh is the reason to why her cousin Daniel,  the Earl of Winstead, had to flee England. Hugh on the other hand thinks that Sarah is immature and talks too much. When Sarahs cousin Honoria is getting married, Honoria asks Sarah to help Hugh during the festivities. His return to society after the scandal with Daniel is not easy and Hugh also has a ruined leg after the failed duel with Daniel. Sarah cannot say No to Honoria but neither she nor Hugh are excited about spending more time together.

This is a story about opposites that attracts. I have read this book more than once. It’s easy to like both Sarah and Hugh. This is a perfect book for a days entertaining.

A night like this – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #2

A night like this – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #2

A night like this is the second book in the serie about the Smythe-Smith Quartet, written by Julia Quinn.

All the unmarried ladies in the family of Smythe-Smith plays in the family’s music quartet and perform during the family’s annual concert. It dosen’t matter if you are a skilled musician or not, you still need to be a part of the quartet. The only way to be released from the duty is to get married.

The second book, A night like this, is about Daniel Smythe-Smith. He is the Earl of Winstead and he had to flee England due to a failed duel. When he finally receives a promise that it is safe to return to England, he returns without telling anyone and sneaks in to the family house where the annual concert is held during that evening. From his hidden place, he watches the concert and sees a woman that is not a family and she is playing in the concert. For Daniel it is love at first sight when he sees Anne Wynter, the governess of his cousins.
An Earl and a governess. Is it possible?

This book is really entertaining. So much better than the first book in the serie. Highly recommend this story.

Just like heaven – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #1

Just like heaven – Julia Quinn, Smythe-Smith Quartet #1

Just like heaven is the first book in the serie about the Smythe-Smith Quartet, written by Julia Quinn.

All the unmarried ladies in the family of Smythe-Smith plays in the family’s music quartet and perform during the family’s annual concert. It dosen’t matter if you are a skilled musician or not, you still need to be a part of the quartet. The only way to be released from the duty is to get married.

This first book, Just like heaven, is about Honoria. She is the youngest sibling in her family. Her sister are much older than her and all married. Her only brother, Daniel, had to leave England and is living abroad. Before Daniel fled the country, he asked his best friend, Marcus – The Earl of Chatteris, to keep an eye on his sister and make sure she marries a good man.
Circumstances makes it so that Honoria and Marcus get’s to spend a lot of time together and we get to follow how their relationship changes.

I find this book a bit boring… The love story between Honoria and Marcus is good but in my opinion, this book is a bit too slow and a large part of the book is about treating an illness, which I don’t find that entertaining.
But please don’t give up. The rest of the books in the Smythe-Smith Quartet serie are worth waiting for!

A wallflower Christmas – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #5

A wallflower Christmas – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #5

A wallflower Christmas is the fifth and last book in the serie The Wallflowers, written by Lisa Kleypas.

In this book you will met all the wallflowers one last time. Christmas is coming up and Ralf, the brother of Lillian and Daisy, is coming from America to visit the family and to marry his fathers choice, Natalie.
To get some inside information about Natalie, her hired companion Hannah, is invite for tea to meet with Lilian and Ralf. Hannah does not have a high opinion about Ralf and his American manners. She is determined to protect Natalie against this bad match but maybe it’s herself that needs protection from Ralfs charm?

For me, it was kind of a relief to read this book after Scandal in spring. This book is better than the fourth book, but not as good as the three first ones. This book is a more worthy ending of the serie about The Wallflowers.

Scandal in spring – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #4

Scandal in spring – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #4

Scandal in spring is the fourth book in the serie The Wallflowers, written by Lisa Kleypas.

This is the story about Daisy, the sister of Lillian Bowman in book number two in the serie). Daisy’s father is determined, she needs to get married before the season is over. If she can’t get a marriage offer from an English gentleman, she have to marry her father’s choice – Matthew, an American entrepreneur.
Daisy is horrified by the thought of marrying Matthew. How is she going to get out if this situation?

I don’t know what happened here. I really enjoyed the first three books about the wallflowers but this book never got me hooked.
I have read the other books more than once but this book, I could hardly finish it. Is was bored. What do you think about this book?

Devil in winter – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #3

Devil in winter is the second book in the serie The Wallflowers, written by Lisa Kleypas.

This is the story about the shy Evie (Evangeline) and the rouge Sebastian. Evie is desperate to get away from her relatives, who treats her badly and is only trying to use her so they can get her coming inherence. Desperate, Evie turns to Sebastian. She knows that he is financial problems and she suggests a solution that can solve both of their problems.
This is one of the most popular books written by Lisa Kleypas. Evie and Sebastian returns in some of her others books and as her reader, that is always a nice surprise!

Highly recommend this book. You will learn skills as how to tame a rake 😉
