It happened one autumn – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #2

It happened one autumn – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #2

It happened one autumn is the second book in the serie The Wallflowers, written by Lisa Kleypas.

Lillian is an American heiress and she is as far from English manners as you can get. An intelligent woman, full of energy and passion. The most boring thing she can imagen is the icy and stiff Lord Westcliff, Marcus. Just the sight of him irritates her and she enjoy provoking him.
It’s hard to tell you more about the story in this book without spoilers… so I will just say this – It’s a must read if you are in to romance.

This book is funny, exciting and the story takes many turns which makes it hard to predict.

Secrets of a summer night – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #1

Secrets of a summer night – Lisa Kleypas, The Wallflowers #1

Secrets of a summer night is the first book in the serie The Wallflowers, written by Lisa Kleypas.

In the beginning of this book, you get to know all “the wallflowers” and how they start a pact – a pact to help each other find suitable husbands. All of wallflowers have different reasons for not having been able to finding a husband.
Annabelle is beautiful, graceful, but without a dowery… Which makes it hard for her to get a good proposal. She knows that she needs to get married to be able to help her family out financially.
Simon has money, a lot fo it. He is an American entrepreneur and has moved to London for business. He also shows a clear interest in Annabelle. The problem is that he wants Annabelle as his mistress. To be Simons mistress would solve Annabelle and her families financial problems but even if she is tempted by him, the life of a mistress is not something that she is wants.

This book is a very strong start of the serie about the wallflowers. I really enjoy the story about Annabelle and Simon and have read it more than once. Highly recommended!

On the way to the wedding – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #8

On the way to the wedding – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #8

On the way to the wedding is the eighth book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

This book starts with the ending. George Bridgerton is running through London, on his way to stop the woman he loves, from marrying someone else. He arrives to the cathedral before the marriage ceremony is completed. Before all the wedding guests, he begs Lucinda to marry him instead. Before her answer is reviled, the book takes you to the beginning of the story. How they first meet and how George from the beginning was interested in Hermione, a good friend of Lucinda. Lucinda offers to help George win Hermiones heart. After that, nothing goes as planned.

Extra points for a rare beginning. The beginning get’s you hocked to find out if Lucinda will say yes. The book is ok but not a book I would read more then once.

It’s in his kiss – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #7

It’s in his kiss – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #7

It’s in his kiss is the seventh book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

This book is about Hyacinth, the youngest of the Bridgerton siblings. She is smart, witty and outspoken. She is also a friend of Lady Danbury and visit her every Tuesday to read for her. Lady Danbury has a grandson, Gareth St.Clair, and she makes sure that Hyacinth and Gareth meet each other on social gatherings.
Gareth has inherited a diary from his grandmother on his fathers side. The only problem is that diary is written in Italian so Gareth need to find someone how can help him translate the diary. Hyacinth, who has had an Italian governess, knows some Italien and offers her help. From the diary, they find out that there is a hidden treasure in the house of Gareths father. Hyacinth and Gareths is now on a treasure hunt.

I think this book is ok but not more. It’s not as exciting as the other books in the Bridgerton serie and didn’t leave me longing for more. It’s not a book I would read again.

When he was wicked – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #6

When he was wicked – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #6

When he was wicked is the sixth book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

Francesca Bridgerton marries when she is young to the love of her life. At a dinner, close to the weeding, her future husbands cousin Michael meet Francesca for the first time. For him, it’s love at first sight. A love he cannot act on because of his strong friendship and loyalty to his cousin. He can just watch when the woman he loves lives happily together with his cousins. But life happens and a few years later Francesca is a widow and Michael has come back from time abroad.

I would say this is the steamiest of the books in the Bridgerton serie. The story is well written and you get caught. You want to know how the story between Francesca and Michael develops.
Highly recommend to read this book!

To Sir Phillip, with love – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #5

To Sir Phillip, with love – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #5

To Sir Phillip, with love is the fifth book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

Eloise Bridgerton is not amused by balls, new dresses and the ton. She feels lost an is looking for something else. She also loves writing letters and one of her pen-pals is Sir Phillip. A widower with two children. Phillip is in need of a new wife to help him with his children. Maybe a spinster like Eloise would be the right choice? A calm lady that can help him out. But Eloise is not the calm lady that Phillip expected. She is lively, full energy and beautiful. For Eloise, the meeting with Phillip and his children is not all as expected. They are all in need of better manners and love.

This is a very good book! It’s not predictable, full of surprises and the story is not what you are used to in a historical romances. I highly recommend you to get to know Eloise and Phillip and their love story.

Romancing Mister Bridgerton – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #4

Romancing Mister Bridgerton – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #4

Romancing Mister Bridgerton is the fourth book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

Penelope is the close friend of Eloise Bridgerton. She is also the secret admirer of Colin Bridgerton, Eloise brother. Penelope has been pining after Colin for as long as she can remember. How is she going to make him see her as something else then his sisters friend?
But Penelope has a secret. Under the pseudonym Lady Whistledown, she writes a well read gossip column. What will happen when Colin finds out about her secret?

I think this book is ok but not as good as the three first books in the serie of the family Bridgerton. Worth reading but not I book I will read over and over again.

An offer from a Gentleman – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #3

An offer from a Gentleman – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #3

An offer from a Gentleman is the third book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

This book is about Benedict and Sophie and if you like cinderella stories, this book is truly something for you.
Sophie is the daughter of an Earl but since his death, she is treated as a maid by her stepmother.
One night she as the possibility to sneak out and attend a masquerade ball. There she meet Benedict and they dance and talk until Sophie hastily has to leave before the clock hits 12. Since it’s a masquerade ball, Benedict don’t have the possibility to see Sophies face clearly but he is sure about one thing as she leaves the ball at midnight – this is the woman he wants to marry!
But how to find the women of your dreams when you don’t know her name or how she looks without the mask on?

An offer from a Gentleman is warm book. It’s very easy to like both Benedict and Sophie and you find yourself hopping for them to find each other and have their happy ending.

I recommend An offer from a Gentleman. A perfect book for a grey and rainy day!

The Viscount who loved me – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #2

The Viscount who loved me – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #2

The Viscount who loved me is the second book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

In this book you will meet the oldest son, Anthony Bridgerton.
Anthony can no longer postpone his duty to marry and get an heir. As the rake he is, he has no interest in getting married. To solve his problem, Anthony decide to marry the girl that is the most popular of the season and this without even knowing her. To Anthony, this seems like a good plan. The only problem is Kate. Kate is the sister of the girl Anthony plans to marry. Kate is determined to stop the marriage, to protect her sister from a marriage with a rake. She has no higher thoughts about rakes and especially if the rake wants to marry her dear sister!

The sparks between Anthony and Kate is something else! There is so much passion in this book. It’s also funny, moving and you cant put it down. In my opinion, this is the best of the books in the serie about the family Bridgerton. Forget about the serie on Netflix. To me, the serie is a 2 start rating compared to the book. It cannot even come close to the quality of the book.

I highly recommend The Viscount who loved me! You will be entertained and there are no dull moments in the book.

The Duke and I – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #1

The Duke and I – Julia Quinn, Bridgerton #1

The Duke and I is the first book in the serie about the family Bridgerton, written by Julia Quinn.

In this book you will meet the oldest daughter, Daphne Bridgerton.
Daphne is pressured to get married but she has still not found love. One of her brothers best friends, Simon, needs to get away from all the mothers that wants to marry of their daughters to him.
What if they pretend to be in a relationship? That would put Daphne out of pressure and it would get the mothers to back away from Simon. Sounds like a perfect plan, a plan that solve both of their problems.
To make their fake relationship look real, they have to spend time together and dance together at bals. What will happen when they get to know each other?

This is a good historical romance book. As a reader it’s easy to get lost in the story and you really want to know how the story will end. I highly can recommend this book and hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
